I have been riding since I was 5, and I have taught since I was 15. I have worked for numerous established riding schools in Auckland including Diamond Lodge Equestrian and Bartley Riding Academy as well as at pony clubs and independently before opening Mahurangi Riding School in 2016.

I grew up in the UK as a child and my learning as a rider was very structured (following the BHS system) before moving to NZ and going through the NZPCA system, to B Level.

With the riding school, my own competitive riding has taken a back seat as coaching and a young family has taken priority. I still occasionally get to the odd event and I do enjoy a regular hack on the beach. I do keep myself educated and attend clinics where I can to ensure I have a knowledge base with fresh ideas and to keep on the right track with what I am coaching.

That being said, I am old school in the respect that I believe solid foundations are key.

I started the riding school when I recognized a gap in the market to provide a more boutique riding school experience with quality instruction and well schooled and cared for horses. Horses have always been a huge part of my life and I love sharing my knowledge and passion with others.

Hi, I’m Becky.

Hi, I’m Louise.

I have been around horses since I was 8 years old, I saw show jumping at the Royal Easter Show and that was it, I was hooked. I spent many years riding in a riding school (with Becky as my coach at one point!) before getting my own horse at 15. Since then I have ridden, trained and broken in hundreds of horses, including competing in Dressage, Show jumping and everything in between. I have represented in Waitemata Rodney Area Pony Club in Dressage, Show Jumping and Eventing. I started coaching in my late teens and absolutely fell in love with helping riders achieve their goals and sharing my love of the sport. These days I don’t have a lot of time to ride but I enjoy training my two young thoroughbreds when time allows and have a total of 9 horses at home.

HI, I’m CHEVY

Hi, I'm Chevy. I started my equestrian journey 7 years ago with Becky and after a few years helping out each weekend, I took on the role of yard supervisor. I have recently started my coaching career, helping out with holiday programs and beginner lessons which I really enjoy. I have an up and coming show jumper who I hope to compete on next season alongside taking a more permanent teaching role in the school.
